Mood Lifters

Now and again you may find that you don’t feel the way you would like to feel. You may be irritated, sad, angry etc. and you may very much want to change your state. How do you do that? Well, there are several methods and I will give a few of them in this article. Test them out and decide which one is working the best for you.

CHANGE THOUGHTS
Whenever you experience a negative feeling you want to change, you are in a very good position to identify how you want to feel. So you may say to yourself: “I want to feel good and I will change to that feeling by changing my thoughts. I will choose thoughts that make me feel good.” If you then start to change your focus, you will also change your mood. Remember, you can have only one feeling at any one time. We cannot feel very happy and very sad at the same time. It is like a seesaw, only one is up in the air at any one time.

NEXT
When thoughts that create bad feelings for you (irritation, sadness, ‘I am not good enough’, anger, feeling poor etc.) enter your mind, you just say “next”. When saying this word you tell yourself you have finished that old (habit?) thought, and you are now ready to focus on thoughts and words that will trigger feelings you want. You could say that you invite them. You may want to add images of how you want to feel and be.

HOW WOULD A CONFIDENT PERSON BEHAVE
You may be a person who is nervous about for example making a presentation. One way of overcoming the non-confident feeling is to focus on how it would be to be a fantastic confident presenter. How would it feel? What posture would I have? – Some time ago I found I wanted to let go of a bit of weight. I found that cakes were smiling at me in the cake shops and I then changed my thoughts from being drawn to them by applying a different thought pattern. I simply asked myself, what a very healthy and slim person would do about cakes. Well, wave goodbye and go for a healthy fresh fruit juice or low calorie cracker bread. It worked wonders, and I achieved my favourite weight.

CALM AND RELAXED
How about stress and worry? Pretend you don’t have a worry in the world. Just pretend and act it out for ten minutes, which is all you have to do. Also, pretend that everybody else thinks you are this way all the time. (Remember, perception is projection!).

If you keep focusing on things as they currently are, nothing will change. Make the changes you want by changing your thoughts. We create our lives by the choices we make. May you enjoy your choices!
